Eurasian bittern
The Eurasian bittern is a large, secretive bird found in wetlands across Europe, Asia, and parts of North Africa. It is known for its distinctive booming call, especially during the breeding season. This bird has a stout body, long neck, and camouflaged plumage that helps it blend into its marshy habitat.
Eurasian bitterns primarily feed on fish, amphibians, and small mammals. They are typically solitary and prefer dense reeds for nesting. Due to habitat loss and hunting, their populations have declined in some areas, making them a species of concern in conservation efforts.
