Eurasia Tunnel
The Eurasia Tunnel is a road tunnel that connects the European and Asian sides of Istanbul, Turkey. It runs beneath the Bosphorus Strait and is designed to ease traffic congestion between the two continents. The tunnel is approximately 14.6 kilometers long, with a submerged section of about 5.4 kilometers.
Opened in December 2016, the Eurasia Tunnel allows vehicles to travel between the two sides in about 15 minutes. It features two lanes in each direction and is equipped with advanced safety systems. The tunnel is part of a broader effort to improve transportation infrastructure in Istanbul.
