Ethanol Blends
Ethanol blends are fuel mixtures that combine gasoline with ethanol, a renewable alcohol made from plant materials like corn or sugarcane. These blends are commonly used in vehicles to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reliance on fossil fuels. The most common blend is E10, which contains 10% ethanol and 90% gasoline.
Higher ethanol blends, such as E15 and E85, contain 15% and 85% ethanol, respectively. While E10 is suitable for most vehicles, E15 and E85 are designed for flex-fuel vehicles that can handle higher ethanol concentrations. Using ethanol blends can help promote energy independence and support agricultural economies.
