Estany de Banyoles
Estany de Banyoles is the largest natural lake in Catalonia, located near the town of Banyoles. It covers an area of approximately 110 hectares and is known for its clear blue waters and scenic surroundings. The lake is a popular destination for outdoor activities such as kayaking, rowing, and hiking along its picturesque trails.
The lake is also significant for its ecological importance, hosting various species of flora and fauna. It was formed during the last ice age and is fed by underground springs. In 1992, Estany de Banyoles gained international recognition as a venue for the rowing events during the Barcelona Olympics.
