Erysipelas
Erysipelas is a bacterial skin infection that primarily affects the upper layers of the skin. It is usually caused by the bacteria Streptococcus pyogenes, which can enter the body through cuts or breaks in the skin. Symptoms often include a red, swollen area that feels warm and tender, along with fever and chills.
This condition commonly occurs on the face and legs and can develop rapidly. Treatment typically involves antibiotics to eliminate the infection. If left untreated, erysipelas can lead to more serious complications, making early diagnosis and treatment important for recovery.
