Erta Ale
Erta Ale is a continuously active volcano located in the Afar Region of Ethiopia. It is known for its unique lava lake, which is one of the few permanent lava lakes in the world. The volcano stands at approximately 613 meters (2,041 feet) above sea level and is part of the East African Rift system.
The lava lake at Erta Ale is characterized by its fluid basaltic lava, which can create spectacular eruptions and fountains. The area around the volcano is remote and harsh, making it a challenging destination for researchers and adventurers interested in studying volcanic activity and geology.
