Ernest Bevin
Ernest Bevin was a British statesman and trade union leader, born on March 9, 1881, in Somerset, England. He played a significant role in the Labour Party and was a key figure in post-World War II British politics. Bevin served as the Minister of Labour from 1940 to 1945, where he was instrumental in organizing the workforce during the war.
After the war, Bevin became the Foreign Secretary from 1945 to 1951, where he was involved in shaping British foreign policy during the early Cold War. He was a strong advocate for the United Nations and played a crucial role in the establishment of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Bevin passed away on April 14, 1951.
