Erasure Poetry
Erasure poetry is a form of poetry created by taking an existing text and removing words to reveal a new meaning or narrative. This technique often involves using a printed page, such as a newspaper article or a book, where the poet selectively blacks out or erases certain words, leaving behind a poem formed from the remaining text.
This art form encourages creativity and reinterpretation, allowing poets to engage with the original material in a unique way. Erasure poetry can be seen as a response to the original work, transforming it into something personal and new while still acknowledging its source, much like the works of William Burroughs or Tom Phillips.
