Equine Viral Arteritis
Equine Viral Arteritis (EVA) is a contagious viral disease that primarily affects horses. It is caused by the equine viral arteritis virus, which can lead to respiratory issues, fever, and swelling of the limbs and reproductive organs. The virus is transmitted through respiratory secretions, direct contact, or contaminated equipment.
Infected horses can show mild to severe symptoms, and some may remain carriers without showing signs. EVA can also affect breeding, as it can cause abortion in pregnant mares. Vaccination is available to help control the spread of the virus and protect susceptible horses.
