Equine Encephalitis
Equine Encephalitis refers to a group of viral diseases that affect the central nervous system of horses and can also impact humans. The most common types are Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), and Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis (VEE). These viruses are primarily transmitted through the bites of infected mosquitoes.
Symptoms in horses may include fever, depression, and neurological issues such as incoordination or seizures. While the disease can be severe and often fatal in horses, human cases are rare but can lead to serious health complications. Vaccination is available for horses to help prevent these infections.
