Entrapment
Entrapment is a legal defense used in criminal cases, where a person argues that they were induced or persuaded by law enforcement to commit a crime they would not have otherwise committed. This concept aims to protect individuals from being manipulated into illegal activities by authorities.
In many jurisdictions, for a successful entrapment defense, the accused must demonstrate that the government agents, such as police officers, created a substantial risk of committing the crime. If proven, this can lead to the dismissal of charges, as it raises questions about the fairness of the law enforcement's actions in the case.
