Empress Zita of Austria
Empress Zita of Austria, born on July 9, 1892, was the last Empress of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. She married Emperor Karl I in 1911 and became Empress in 1916 during World War I. Zita was known for her strong character and dedication to her family and faith.
After the collapse of the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1918, Zita and her family went into exile. They lived in various countries, including Switzerland and Portugal. Zita remained active in promoting the legacy of her husband and the monarchy until her death on March 14, 1989, in Switzerland.
