Empress Elisabeth of Austria
Empress Elisabeth of Austria, often called Sisi, was born on December 24, 1837, in Munich, Germany. She became the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary through her marriage to Franz Joseph I in 1854. Known for her beauty and free spirit, she was a prominent figure in the Habsburg court but struggled with the constraints of royal life.
Sisi was also known for her interest in fitness and travel, often spending time in Hungary and Greece. Her life was marked by personal tragedies, including the deaths of her children, which deeply affected her. She was assassinated in 1898 in Geneva, Switzerland.
