Emperor Go-Fukakusa
Emperor Go-Fukakusa was the 85th emperor of Japan, reigning from 1246 to 1259. He was born on January 18, 1243, and was the son of Emperor Go-Saga. His reign was marked by the influence of the Kamakura shogunate, which held significant power during this period.
After his abdication, Go-Fukakusa became a retired emperor, a common practice in the Heian and Kamakura periods. He continued to play a role in politics and was involved in the affairs of the court until his death on February 20, 1304. His era is noted for its cultural developments, including advancements in literature and art.
