Emmuska Orczy was a Hungarian-born British author, best known for her historical fiction and adventure novels. Born on September 23, 1865, in Szeged, Hungary, she later moved to England, where she became a prominent writer. Her most famous work is The Scarlet Pimpernel, published in 1905, which introduced the character of Sir Percy Blakeney, a dashing hero who rescues aristocrats from the guillotine during the French Revolution.
