Elisabeth of Bohemia
Elisabeth of Bohemia (1618-1680) was a notable philosopher and the daughter of Ferdinand II, the Holy Roman Emperor. She is best known for her correspondence with the philosopher René Descartes, where she engaged in discussions about the nature of the mind and body, contributing to early modern philosophy.
Elisabeth was educated in a time when women had limited access to formal education. Despite this, she became an influential thinker, advocating for the importance of reason and intellect. Her letters with Descartes remain significant in the study of philosophy, particularly in discussions about dualism and the relationship between the mind and body.
