Eliot Ness
Eliot Ness was an American law enforcement official best known for his role in combating organized crime during the Prohibition era. He led a special team known as the “Untouchables,” which was dedicated to enforcing the 18th Amendment and targeting notorious gangsters like Al Capone. Ness's efforts contributed to the eventual downfall of Capone's criminal empire in Chicago.
Born on April 19, 1903, in Chicago, Illinois, Ness was a dedicated public servant who later served as the Director of Public Safety in Cleveland. After his work in Chicago, he continued to fight crime in various capacities, including as a businessman and author, until his death on May 7, 1957.
