Elevons
Elevons are control surfaces found on some aircraft, particularly those with delta wings or flying wings. They combine the functions of both elevators and ailerons, allowing the aircraft to control pitch and roll simultaneously. By adjusting the position of the elevons, pilots can maneuver the aircraft more efficiently, especially during high-speed flight.
Typically located at the trailing edge of the wings, elevons help improve stability and control. They are especially useful in aircraft designs like the Concorde and Space Shuttle, where traditional control surfaces may not be as effective due to the unique aerodynamic characteristics of their shapes.
