Electra Havemeyer Webb
Electra Havemeyer Webb (1888-1960) was an American art collector and philanthropist known for her significant contributions to the preservation of American decorative arts. She founded the Shelburne Museum in Vermont in 1947, which showcases a diverse collection of American artifacts, including folk art, textiles, and furniture.
Webb was the daughter of Henry Osborne Havemeyer, a sugar magnate, and she grew up in a wealthy family that encouraged her interest in art. Throughout her life, she collected numerous pieces that reflected her passion for American history and culture, making her a key figure in the field of American art preservation.
