Eldorado (Myth)
The myth of Eldorado originated in the 16th century during the Spanish conquest of the Americas. It described a legendary city or kingdom filled with immense wealth, particularly gold. Explorers and conquistadors were drawn to the idea, believing that a ruler known as the El Dorado or "the gilded one" would lead them to this treasure-laden land.
Over time, the search for Eldorado became a symbol of unattainable dreams and the folly of greed. Many expeditions were launched into the jungles and mountains of South America, but none found the mythical city, leading to its status as a cautionary tale about the dangers of obsession and ambition.
