Ejection Fraction
Ejection Fraction (EF) is a measurement used to assess how well the heart pumps blood. It represents the percentage of blood that is ejected from the left ventricle with each heartbeat. A normal EF ranges from 55% to 70%, indicating that the heart is functioning effectively.
A low ejection fraction can signal potential heart problems, such as heart failure or cardiomyopathy. Doctors often use an echocardiogram or other imaging tests to measure EF, helping them evaluate a patient's heart health and determine appropriate treatment options.
