Eisegesis
Eisegesis is the process of interpreting a text by injecting one's own ideas, biases, or beliefs into it, rather than deriving meaning from the text itself. This approach often leads to a subjective understanding, as the reader imposes their perspective on the material, which can distort the original message.
In contrast to exegesis, which seeks to uncover the intended meaning of a text, eisegesis can result in misinterpretations. This practice is often criticized in the context of religious texts, such as the Bible, where accurate interpretation is crucial for understanding doctrine and teachings.
