Edward of York
Edward of York, also known as Edward IV, was a key figure in the Wars of the Roses, a series of civil wars for control of the English throne. Born in 1442, he became the first king from the House of York after defeating Henry VI at the Battle of Towton in 1461. His reign was marked by efforts to stabilize England and strengthen the monarchy.
Edward IV ruled until 1483, with a brief interruption due to the return of Henry VI. He was known for his charisma and military skill, as well as for his marriage to Elizabeth Woodville, which united the York and Woodville families. His death led to further conflict in the Wars of the Roses.
