Edward V was a king of England who reigned for a very short time in 1483. He was born on November 2, 1470, and was the son of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. Edward V was only 12 years old when he became king after his father's death. However, his reign lasted just a few months, as he was never officially crowned.
During his brief time as king, Edward V was placed under the protection of his uncle, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, who later became Richard III. Edward and his younger brother, Richard, Duke of York, disappeared from the Tower of London, leading to speculation about their fate. Their mysterious disappearance remains one of the enduring mysteries of English history.
