Edgewood Arsenal
Edgewood Arsenal is a former U.S. Army facility located in Maryland, established in 1917. It was primarily used for research and development of chemical and biological weapons during the Cold War. The site played a significant role in the U.S. military's efforts to develop and test various munitions and defense systems.
In 1997, Edgewood Arsenal was officially closed, and its operations were transferred to the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command. Today, the area is part of the Aberdeen Proving Ground and focuses on environmental cleanup and redevelopment, transitioning from military use to civilian purposes.
