Eddie Brock is a fictional character in the Marvel Comics universe, primarily known as the host of the anti-hero Venom. He first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #299 in 1988. Originally a journalist, Brock's life takes a dramatic turn when he becomes bonded with an alien symbiote, granting him superhuman abilities and a monstrous appearance. As Venom, Eddie Brock possesses powers similar to those of Spider-Man, including enhanced strength, agility, and the ability to cling to surfaces. Unlike Spider-Man, however, Venom has a darker, more aggressive personality, often driven by a desire for revenge against his former rival.
