Ed Asner was an American actor and voice actor, best known for his role as Lou Grant on the television series The Mary Tyler Moore Show and its spin-off, Lou Grant. Born on November 15, 1929, in Kansas City, Missouri, he had a prolific career in film, television, and theater, earning numerous awards, including seven Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition to his television work, Asner lent his voice to various animated characters, most notably Carl Fredricksen in the Pixar film Up.
