The Eastern gorilla is one of the largest primates and is native to the forests of central Africa. It is divided into two subspecies: the Mountain gorilla and the Eastern lowland gorilla. These gorillas are known for their robust bodies, long arms, and thick fur, which helps them adapt to their environment.
Eastern gorillas primarily eat leaves, fruits, and stems, spending most of their time foraging in trees and on the ground. They live in social groups called troops, led by a dominant male known as a silverback. Unfortunately, both subspecies are critically endangered due to habitat loss and poaching.
