Eastern Pygmy Possum
The Eastern Pygmy Possum is a small marsupial native to eastern Australia. It typically weighs around 40 grams and measures about 7 to 10 centimeters in body length, with a tail that can be as long as its body. This nocturnal creature has a soft, greyish-brown fur and large eyes, which help it navigate in the dark.
These possums primarily inhabit forests and woodlands, where they feed on nectar, fruits, and insects. They play a crucial role in pollination, especially for native plants. The Eastern Pygmy Possum is considered vulnerable due to habitat loss and environmental changes.
