Easter Island Languages
Easter Island, known as Rapa Nui, is home to the Rapa Nui language, which is a Polynesian language spoken by the island's inhabitants. It is part of the larger Austronesian language family and has influences from other Polynesian languages. The language is vital for preserving the island's culture and traditions.
In addition to Rapa Nui, some residents also speak Spanish, the official language of Chile, which governs the island. The use of Rapa Nui has declined over the years, but efforts are being made to revitalize it through education and cultural programs, ensuring its survival for future generations.
