Earthquake Safety
To stay safe during an earthquake, it is important to know how to protect yourself. If you are indoors, drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy piece of furniture, and hold on until the shaking stops. Stay away from windows, heavy furniture, and anything that could fall. If you are outside, move to an open area away from buildings, trees, and power lines.
After the shaking stops, check for injuries and hazards. Be cautious of aftershocks, which are smaller tremors that can follow the main quake. Have an emergency kit ready with supplies like water, food, and a flashlight to ensure you are prepared.
