Early Years Foundation Stage
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a framework in the United Kingdom designed to support the learning and development of children from birth to age five. It sets out the standards for education, care, and assessment, ensuring that children have a strong foundation for future learning. The EYFS emphasizes play-based learning, encouraging children to explore and engage with their environment.
The framework includes seven areas of learning and development, which are divided into two categories: prime areas and specific areas. The prime areas focus on essential skills such as communication, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional development, while the specific areas include literacy, mathematics, understanding the world, and expressive arts and design.
