Earls of Derby
The title "Earls of Derby" is a British noble title that has been held by several families since its creation in the 13th century. The first Earl, Edmund de Lacy, was granted the title in 1260. The Earls have historically been influential in the region of Lancashire and have played significant roles in English history, particularly during the Wars of the Roses.
The current holder of the title is Edward Stanley, the 19th Earl of Derby, who succeeded in 1994. The family seat is Knowsley Hall, located near Liverpool. The Earls of Derby have also been associated with various cultural and sporting events, including the famous Derby horse race.
