Dutch maritime territory
Dutch maritime territory refers to the areas of sea and ocean that are under the jurisdiction of the Netherlands. This includes the territorial waters, which extend up to 12 nautical miles from the coastline, as well as the exclusive economic zone (EEZ), which can extend up to 200 nautical miles. Within these zones, the Netherlands has rights to explore and exploit marine resources.
In addition to its coastal waters, the Netherlands also has maritime territories in the Caribbean, including islands like Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten. These territories are important for fishing, shipping, and environmental protection, contributing to the country's economy and maritime heritage.
