Dusan Makavejev
Dusan Makavejev was a Serbian filmmaker born on October 13, 1932, in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He is best known for his innovative and provocative films that blend documentary and fiction, often exploring themes of sexuality, politics, and the human condition. His most famous work, WR: Mysteries of the Organism, released in 1971, gained international acclaim for its unique style and controversial subject matter.
Throughout his career, Makavejev contributed significantly to the Yugoslav cinema movement and was associated with the New Wave of filmmaking. He lived in exile for many years, primarily in France and the United States, where he continued to create thought-provoking films until his passing on January 25, 2019.
