Dulles International Airport
Dulles International Airport, officially known as Washington Dulles International Airport, is located in Chantilly, Virginia, about 26 miles west of downtown Washington, D.C.. Opened in 1962, it serves as a major hub for both domestic and international flights, connecting travelers to over 125 destinations worldwide. The airport is named after John Foster Dulles, who was the U.S. Secretary of State under President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
The airport features a distinctive design by architect Eero Saarinen, characterized by its sweeping rooflines and spacious terminal. Dulles has five passenger concourses, which are connected to the main terminal by an underground train system. It is also known for its extensive amenities, including shops, restaurants, and lounges, making it a convenient stop for travelers.
