The Duke of Wellington was a prominent British military leader and statesman, best known for his role in the Napoleonic Wars. Born Arthur Wellesley in 1769, he gained fame for his victory over Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Waterloo in 1815, which marked a significant turning point in European history.
