Duchy of Warsaw
The Duchy of Warsaw was a Polish state established in 1807, created from territories taken from the Kingdom of Prussia. It was formed as a result of the treaties following the Napoleonic Wars, specifically the Treaty of Tilsit. The duchy was a client state of Napoleon Bonaparte, who aimed to promote Polish nationalism and strengthen his influence in Central Europe.
The duchy existed until 1815, when it was dissolved at the Congress of Vienna. Its territories were divided among the Russian Empire, the Austrian Empire, and the Kingdom of Prussia. Despite its short existence, the Duchy of Warsaw played a significant role in the revival of Polish national identity during the early 19th century.
