She became the Duchess after her marriage to Alonso de la Cueva y Benavides, the 1st Duke of Pastrana. The duchess is known for her significant contributions to the arts and culture during the Spanish Golden Age.
She is also recognized for her close association with the Carmelite Order, particularly with Saint Teresa of Ávila, who founded the Discalced Carmelites. The Duchess played a vital role in promoting the religious and cultural initiatives of the order, including the establishment of convents.
