Drum Components
A drum consists of several key components that work together to produce sound. The main parts include the drum shell, which is the hollow body that amplifies the sound, and the drumhead, a membrane stretched over the top that is struck to create sound. The hoop holds the drumhead in place, while the tension rods allow for adjustments to the drumhead's tightness, affecting the pitch.
Other important components are the drumsticks, which are used to strike the drumhead, and the snare wires, found on the bottom of a snare drum, adding a sharp, crisp sound. The bass drum pedal allows the drummer to play the bass drum with their foot, providing a foundational rhythm in many musical styles.
