Draco volans
Draco volans, commonly known as the flying dragon, is a species of lizard found primarily in Southeast Asia. It is notable for its ability to glide through the air, using elongated ribs to extend its throat flap, or dewlap, which helps it steer while airborne. These lizards can glide distances of up to 10 meters (about 33 feet) between trees.
The flying dragon primarily inhabits tropical forests and is often seen climbing trees. Its diet consists mainly of insects, which it catches while gliding or foraging on branches. Draco volans plays a role in its ecosystem by helping control insect populations.
