Dr. Howard Thurman
Dr. Howard Thurman was an influential African American theologian, author, and civil rights leader born on November 18, 1899. He played a significant role in the development of nonviolent resistance and was a mentor to many prominent figures, including Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.. Thurman was the first African American dean of Boston University School of Theology and co-founded the Church for the Fellowship of All Peoples in San Francisco.
Thurman's writings, particularly his book Jesus and the Disinherited, emphasized the importance of love and understanding in overcoming social injustice. He believed in the power of spirituality to inspire social change and foster unity among diverse communities.
