Douglas Dam
Douglas Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the French Broad River in Tennessee. Completed in 1943, it was built by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to provide flood control, hydroelectric power, and recreational opportunities. The dam creates Douglas Lake, which spans over 30 miles and offers various activities such as fishing, boating, and camping.
The dam stands 140 feet tall and stretches 1,370 feet across the river. It has a generating capacity of 110 megawatts, contributing to the region's electricity supply. Douglas Dam plays a vital role in managing water resources and supporting local ecosystems in the area.
