Double-Elimination Tournaments
A double-elimination tournament is a type of competition where a participant must lose two matches before being eliminated from the tournament. This format allows players or teams a second chance, making it more forgiving than single-elimination tournaments. Each competitor is placed in a main bracket, and those who lose their first match move to a lower bracket, where they can still compete for a chance to win the tournament.
In a double-elimination setup, the final match often features the winner of the upper bracket facing the winner of the lower bracket. If the lower bracket winner wins, a second match is held to determine the overall champion. This structure ensures that the best competitors have multiple opportunities to showcase their skills.
