Double Seventh Festival
The Double Seventh Festival, also known as Qixi Festival, is a traditional Chinese holiday celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. It commemorates the romantic legend of Niulang (the Cowherd) and Zhinu (the Weaver Girl), who are separated by the Milky Way and allowed to reunite only once a year. The festival is often associated with love and is sometimes referred to as "Chinese Valentine's Day."
During the festival, various customs are observed, such as weaving contests and making offerings to Zhinu for a good marriage. People also enjoy activities like stargazing, as the festival coincides with the appearance of the Vega and Altair stars, representing the two lovers.
