Double IPAs
A Double IPA, or Double India Pale Ale, is a style of beer known for its strong hop flavor and higher alcohol content, typically ranging from 7.5% to 10% ABV. This style emphasizes bold, aromatic hops, which can impart flavors like citrus, pine, and floral notes. The increased malt backbone balances the bitterness, resulting in a rich and complex taste.
Double IPAs often feature a variety of hop varieties, such as Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic, which contribute to their unique profiles. Breweries may also experiment with different brewing techniques, such as dry hopping, to enhance the aroma and flavor.
