Dornier Do 18
The Dornier Do 18 was a German flying boat developed in the 1930s, primarily used for maritime reconnaissance and search-and-rescue missions. It featured a distinctive design with a high-mounted wing and was powered by two Bristol Pegasus radial engines, allowing it to operate from water.
First flown in 1935, the Do 18 served with the Luftwaffe during World War II. Its ability to take off and land on water made it valuable for operations over the ocean. Although it was eventually overshadowed by more advanced aircraft, the Do 18 played a significant role in early aerial maritime operations.
