Donn F. Eisele was an American astronaut and a veteran of the NASA space program. Born on June 23, 1930, in Columbus, Ohio, he served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force before joining NASA in 1963. Eisele flew on the Apollo 7 mission in 1968, which was the first crewed flight of the Apollo program. In addition to his work as an astronaut, Eisele was also an accomplished test pilot and engineer.
