Donn Beach
Donn Beach, also known as Don the Beachcomber, was an American restaurateur and the founder of the tiki bar concept. He opened his first bar in Hollywood, California, in 1933, which featured tropical decor and exotic cocktails. His innovative drink recipes and laid-back atmosphere popularized the tiki culture in the United States.
Beach's influence extended beyond his bar, inspiring many other tiki establishments and contributing to the rise of Polynesian-themed restaurants. His legacy includes the creation of classic cocktails like the Zombie and the Mai Tai, which remain popular today in tiki bars around the world.
