Dona Isabel de Portugal
Dona Isabel de Portugal was a prominent figure in the 16th century, known for her role as a queen consort. Born in 1503, she was the daughter of King Manuel I of Portugal and Queen Maria of Aragon. In 1526, she married King John III of Portugal, strengthening ties between Portugal and Spain.
As queen, Dona Isabel was influential in promoting cultural and religious initiatives. She was a patron of the arts and supported the Jesuit order, which played a significant role in the spread of Christianity in the New World. Dona Isabel passed away in 1539, leaving a lasting legacy.
